FBR sends tax of millions to a tyre fitter

SARGODHA (Web Desk) – A Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) team sent a notice of whopping millions of rupees to a daily wage tyre fitter on Friday, causing him to be hospitalised due to the shock.

According to reports, the tyre fitter had received a tax notice from the FBR, claiming that he was a tax defaulter for 13 years, without any prior survey.

The citizen, Fazl Shah, had started a tyre puncture shop in Bhaganwala one year ago to make both ends meet. He claimed that he did not have any property. He expressed his disbelief and distress over receiving a tax notice of millions of rupees, which he considered unjustified.

The FBR officials reportedly summoned the citizen and claimed that they were investigating the matter. They stated that Fazl Shah had submitted his tax returns from 2016 to 2022 and the reason for this notice was yet to be determined.

Reports said the poor man had to be taken to hospital in a state of trauma and shock. This is one of many incidents which are reported from time to time, wherein the have-nots and wage earners get inflated bills. The government organisations hardly bother to have a mechanism in place to avoid such blunders.
